Castle and Conflicts Helicopter Tour

Enjoy an exhilarating helicopter flight which allows you to discover the wonders and history of Welsh castles while taking in some of the most spectacular scenery Britain has to offer. Upon arrival you will be welcomed and briefed by one of Whizzard Helicopters’ specialist flight crew. Once you are safely strapped into your seat, the helicopter will pass along the River Severn, which flows for around 220 miles from its source in the Welsh Cambrian Mountains, through Shropshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire and finally emptying into the Bristol Channel. You will then fly over the historic county town of Montgomery, which boasts pretty Georgian architecture and a stone masonry castle built in the 13th century. Heading north, you’ll discover Hen Domen, a small mound now, but the original motte and bailey site of Montgomery Castle. You will also have the chance to see the Shropshire hills and Corndon, an area of outstanding natural beauty, all before heading over Long Mountain and Offa’s Dyke, a large linear earthwork which roughly follows the current border between England and Wales. As you head back to the airport you’ll pass by Powys Castle with its red sandstone walls. It was once the home of a long line of Welsh Princes and was even visited by Queen Victoria when she was a child. Don't forget to take your camera, so you can re-live the experience with friends and family and show off your fantastic photographs.

Shooting Archery for One at Twinwoods

Since the dawn of time, man has had to forage for food and it was the invention of effective weapons that allowed humankind to diversify their diet, take down larger and more agile prey and continue their rise to the top of the food chain. There is something about wielding a bow that combines an air of elegance with the primal urge to hit a target in a way that is incredibly satisfying. This experience combines archery with a more modern form of target practice using both air powered handguns and rifles. The sheer power of the firearms contrasts with the simple effectiveness of the bow and arrow to make this an ideal way to compare the two. The chance to try them both out on specialist ranges is a truly exhilarating experience. This experience begins with the guest checking into the reception, where they will be asked to fill out a short ‘acceptance of risk’ form which should take no more than 15 minutes to complete. Then, they will head to the shooting and archery range where their instructor will give them a health and safety briefing and ensure that they have protective safety goggles. Then, the action begins with a chance to try out both archery and firearms shooting for around half an hour each in no fixed order. The archery session will include instruction on how to master the technique in order to send arrows flying through the air towards a target. The shooting session is a chance to fire air powered handguns and rifles in two different ranges: a standard distance range with the ability to move targets further or nearer to increase difficulty, and a carnival range with falling/moving targets are available, both of which require accuracy and attention to detail as the key to success. Please note, you are able to upgrade to use a wider range of guns or extra ammunition for a supplement fee of £5 per person, or both for £10, each includes the use of LED range.
